Wi-Fi Security Protocols
Use supported Wi-Fi security
Editorial update: 21 September 2026. Introductory learning material.
Use WPA3 where supported, or appropriately configured WPA2 with AES when required for supported devices. Do not use WEP, original WPA or TKIP as a security fallback.
Keep network equipment supported and updated. Separate guest and untrusted-device access from sensitive business systems, and confirm the separation works.
Activity: Ask the network administrator to document the active security mode, approved devices and guest-access boundary. Plan replacement of equipment that cannot support appropriate protection.
Reference: FTC guidance on protecting wireless networks. Check the source and your system provider’s current instructions before implementation.
